The book made in collaboration with a diverse group of people of Portuguese decent-- living in Terceira (Azores); Halifax and Kelowna (Canada); Florianópolis (Brazil) and Los Angeles (USA) -- is accompanied by a photo- installation composed by a series of seascapes that represent the circumference of Terceira Island. Through multiple interpretations of the sea "The Sea is Not Blue" reflects on issues of identity, cross-cultural movement and interconnectedness. Made with the support of the Direção Regional das Comunidades in the Azores, and an Individual Artist Grant from the City of Pasadena Cultural Affairs Division.
